Spray foam insulation in East Texas

Open and closed cell foam that insulates and seals out humid air, for attics, walls, crawl spaces and metal buildings.

Spray foam insulation in open wall and roof framing

Insulation and an air seal in one layer

Fiberglass and cellulose slow heat but let air pass through. Spray foam does both jobs. It is sprayed on as a liquid, swells to fill cracks and seams, then hardens in place. It will not sag, settle or blow around.

In East Texas the air sealing part matters as much as the insulation. Summer air here is heavy with moisture. Every leak around a light fixture, plumbing vent or wall top lets that damp air into the house, and the AC has to work to pull the water back out. Foam closes those leaks while it insulates.

Our most common job is open cell foam under the roof deck, which brings the attic, the air handler and the ducts inside the sealed shell of the house. In crawl spaces under older pier and beam homes, closed cell foam is the better tool because it holds up against ground moisture.

  • Open cell foam for roof decks, walls and quieter rooms
  • Closed cell foam for crawl spaces, rim joists and metal buildings
  • Air sealing at top plates, pipe and wire holes and attic hatches
  • Protective coatings where code calls for them, such as ignition barriers
  • Free inspection and a written price before any work begins

Open cell or closed cell?

They share a name but behave differently, especially around moisture. We choose based on where the foam is going and how damp that spot gets.

Where it pays off

Jobs where spray foam earns its keep

Ductwork in the attic

A foamed roof deck keeps ducts out of the heat and away from the humid attic air that makes them sweat.

Damp crawl spaces

Closed cell foam under a pier and beam floor warms the floor and resists moisture from below.

Drafty older homes

Older Tyler and Longview houses often leak air at every seam. Foam closes them.

Shops and barns

Closed cell foam insulates metal buildings and keeps the roof from dripping.

When to skip it: if your attic is dry, your ducts are sealed and you only need more depth, blown in insulation gets you further for the money. We will tell you when that is the case.

How it works

What a spray foam job looks like

01

Look and measure

We check the roof deck or crawl space, wiring, ducts, ventilation and any signs of moisture.

02

Estimate in writing

Foam type, thickness and every area covered, listed clearly.

03

Cover and prep

We protect floors, walls and stored items. Vents are handled the way the design calls for.

04

Spray and tidy

Foam goes on to the specified depth, gets trimmed where needed, and the area is cleaned.

What spray foam costs

Foam is priced by the board foot, meaning one square foot at one inch thick. Your total comes from the area, how thick the foam goes, whether it is open or closed cell, and how easy the space is to work in. Tight crawl spaces and steep attics take longer.

Every job gets a written price after a free inspection. Our page on what affects insulation cost explains what to compare between quotes.

Spray foam questions

Is spray foam safe in a humid climate like ours?
  • Yes, when the design fits the space.
  • Open cell goes where vapor can pass safely. Closed cell goes where moisture is a constant, like crawl spaces.
Will my attic vents be closed off?
  • With an unvented roof deck design, yes. The attic becomes part of the conditioned space.
  • We explain the plan for your house before any work starts.
Does foam on the roof deck affect my shingles?
  • Roof deck foam is a common, code recognized method.
  • Read your shingle warranty first. We are glad to go over it with you.
Will the house smell afterward?
  • There is an odor while the foam is sprayed and cures.
  • Stay out for the time the manufacturer lists, which is usually about a day.
How long does it take?
  • Most attics and crawl spaces take a day. Big homes and metal buildings can take two.
